About Summer Kurylo, L.Ac., Dipl. OM.

Summer is a licensed acupuncturist in Michigan and board certified NCCAOM Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Professional Health Studies and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Florida College of Integrative Medicine. Her education includes extensive training in acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Tui Na body work, and cupping therapy, in addition to other modalities of treatment. Summer has treated hundreds of patients of various conditions and is open to treating all patients in her practice, with a special interest in digestive and metabolic issues.

Summer is also a Certified Registered Yoga Instructor RYT-200. She uses her training to help guide patients through movements and exercises for recovery therapy between treatments. Incorporating all of these treatments is important to Summer’s methodology. Her aim is to always find the root cause of an issue and address it, in addition to managing any symptoms that come from the root.

While out of the office, Summer enjoys spending her time with her family, in nature, creating self-sustaining aquariums, and practicing yoga.

Frequently Asked Questions

Prior to your treatment, we will first consult with you about your health concerns and then discuss a diagnosis and treatment plan specific to your needs.

Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Also, please have eaten something small that day, but avoid large meals directly before or after treatment.
Acupuncture is not painful, and most patients find it to be relaxing or even fall asleep during treatment. Some needles evoke a sensation of energy that rushes to the needle and quickly subsides, which is the body’s way of activating an acupuncture point.

Acupuncture can help manage symptoms of a wide range of conditions. Please visit our acupuncture page here on the website for more information. If you have any questions about how acupuncture can help your condition, please reach out to the office!

If you have a fear of needles, that is not a problem for our treatments! Acupuncture needles are very thin needles that do not take or inject anything into the body which makes the experience painless. If you are still worried about receiving acupuncture, no problem. We can use other traditional Chinese methods to treat your condition. If you have any concerns or questions about getting treatment without acupuncture, please reach out to our office!

Acupuncture and dry needling are both the insertion of needles into body locations, but differ by point selection and practitioner education. Licensed acupuncturists have 4 years of extensive training to make acupuncture the safest, most effective, and most painless experience, while providing the best understanding of how the body reacts to needles. On the contrary, dry needling certification can take as little as 18 hours over 3 days to become certified, with no board oversight after training. Our clinic recommends any patient who is seeking acupuncture or dry to needling to receive treatment from a licensed acupuncturist.
